A Tele Pickup That Stands Out Above The Rest

With so many varying specs in the early 50’s, it was rare to find that one standout set that surpassed all others which makes the search for vintage Tele tone a rabbit hole of variations and offerings. But when you hear the one where the notes just jump out with open dynamics and effortless twang, it can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck.

This is exactly what the Brickhouse 1953 Tele pickups aim to achieve! The bridge pickup boasts bold twangy tones with dynamic highs and clear midrange that breathes new life into your amplifier. Pair that with the neck pickup offering you a smooth and powerful tone with very expressive clarity and chime. It's more than just a sound, it's a feeling that ignites your creativity and encourages you to explore new Tele territories. That's what sets the Brickhouse 53 Tele pickup apart.

Details That Matter:
The neck and bridge pickups are RWRP (Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity) from each other so that you can achieve hum-canceling when both pickups are combined in the middle position. This is a modern advantage that comes standard with all of our single coils.

Note:
If you are going to use a 4-way mod switch, you can request that we add a 3rd wire to the neck pickup in the notes during checkout. There is no extra charge.

53 Tele Pickup Set

I was looking for a traditional Tele pickup set to replace the stock pups in my 2008 Mexican Tele Road Worn (Ash body, Maple neck). The originals weren’t bad, just looking for a change. Fortunately, I found Dave Shepherd, founder of Brickhouse Toneworks. In addition to being a super nice guy, he is a true master of his craft. When I dropped off my guitar with him, I asked for a few extras, like installing a 4-way switch and locking tuners and he was happy to oblige. He even treated the metal parts with a solution to make them look aged to match the aesthetic of the rest of the guitar. It all came out great! Looks amazing and, oh my, the sound is out of this world and exactly what I was looking for. Warm and round. Lots of clarity and spank. And, I love the 4th position with the two pickups together in Series. Wonderful, useful additional tonal option. They sound great straight through the amp and with all my pedals. Needless to say, I am thrilled to have met Dave and have really been enjoying his craftsmanship and attention to detail. It’s like a new instrument, tone-wise. Give him a look. You won’t be disappointed.

The first thing I noticed is that they are super balanced. The neck is warm and round, the bridge is spank but is not too bright, it takes overdrive great too.
