Who is Jesse Hensley?

Jesse Hensley is the lead guitarist and vocalist for Big Something, an American alternative rock band based in Burlington, North Carolina. Formed in 2009, Big Something is renowned for its high-energy live performances and eclectic sound, blending rock, funk, jazz, and electronic elements. 

Hensley's musical journey began during his college years, where he and his bandmates met and formed the group. Reflecting on his path, Hensley noted, "I don't think I ever had it in my head that I would be a touring musician. I don't know if I ever really thought about it, but I love it." 

Throughout his tenure with Big Something, Hensley has contributed to the band's evolving catalog, which includes seven studio albums:

  • Truth Serum (2014)
  • Tumbleweed (2017)
  • The Otherside (2018)
  • Escape (2020)
  • Headspace (2023)

The band's seventh studio album, Headspace, released on November 17, 2023, delves into themes of mental health and wellness, reflecting the band's commitment to addressing important societal issues through their music. 

In addition to his musical endeavors, Hensley has been recognized for his exceptional guitar skills. A Reddit user highlighted his performance of "Maggot Brain," stating, "Jamband musician everyone should know... here's Jesse Hensley of Big Something destroying 'Maggot Brain'."
